HoAI Methods and Critical Issues Training - '"Assistance," Resistance and Algorithmic Cultures'
Time: Wednesday 28 April @ 15:00-17:00 BST
Co-facilitated by: Tawana Petty (Stanford PACS), Mara Mills (NYU), Yulia Frumer (Johns Hopkins University)
This session juxtaposes learnings from disability studies and the history of humanoid robotics with contemporary efforts to use data as a tool for protest, collective action and accountability. We examine the cultural assumptions that have informed, and continue to inform, algorithmic cultures in robotics and AI. We question how to subvert and resist these assumptions.
